Ergonomic Assessments & Seminar

Repetitive Strain Injuries, or work related upper limb disorders, are a major problem in the work place and a siginificant cause of lost production, with an estimated cost to industry of up to £20b annually.

The TUC states that dealing with the effects of RSI conditions accounts fo between 0.5% and 2% of UK gross national income. One large employer found that the average cost of retiring an employee on medical grounds was £40,000. Everyday 6 people in the UK leave their jobs due to a Repetitive Strain Injury related condition.

RSI is almost always occupational in origin, although other factors may also be involved, e.g. stress. RSI is not always due to computer work. It can effect anyone doing a repetitive activity.

Sikasso Ltd provides 2 types of workstation assessments:

      Type 1 - Preventative Measure.

A short assessment that examines seating, equipment placement etc. Includes a brief task analysis and current work practice.

Type 2 - Individuals Complaining of Symptoms

Longer assessment including medical history, review of workload, full task analysis and consideration of activity outside the working environment and its effects on the job.

Seminars are interactive and involve providing solutions to identified problems. The more participative the staff the more rewarding they will find the session and the more they will be able to apply to their own workstations.
